What does the name Duo Dhatu represent?

In ancient Sanskrit, the word “Dhātu” (धातु) denotes the fundamental element, primary substance, or root from which all form and life energy emerge. In the musical universe of our duo, Duo Dhatu represents the merging of two elemental forces – breath and flute (air) and wood and guitar (string resonance).

Characteristic Repertoire

Duo Dhatu's repertoire is characterized by an exciting dialogue of stylistic contrasts. On one hand, they bring refined clarity of compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, while on the other, they evoke explosive passion, dance rhythms, and melancholy through iconic works by Astor Piazzolla. Each programme can be adapted to the setting, occasion and mood, making the music a natural part of the event, whether indoors or outdoors.

About the Performers

Biography & Collaboration

Duo Dhatu started their concert career in 2023 during their studies at the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria. The artists recognized their compatibility and shared taste and interest in music, and studied chamber music together with renowned musicians such as Petrit Çeku, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Matthieu Gauci-Ancelin.

From the very beginning the Duo has always aimed at promoting high-quality music to a bigger audience regardless of their understanding of classical music, and therefore has a wide range of performing experience. They associate their work with openmindedness, creativity and collaboration of music and space.

Their earliest projects were focused on the traditional flute and guitar repertoire, which gradually developed into their 2025 concept, Hommage to Astor Piazzolla: Tango for Two. Later on, they developed their Bach: Father & Son concept, which focuses on the music of J. S. Bach, and his son, C. P. E. Bach, which shows the variety and contrast the Duo presents precisely and with passion.

In 2026, Duo Dhatu developed a contrasting programme combining their favourite composers, J. S. Bach and A. Piazzolla, and performed it at music festivals across Europe and the USA.

With their love for knowledge, energy and aesthetic vision, Duo Dhatu is always looking for innovative ways of bringing the beauty of music to new audiences and creating audiovisual experiences that stay remembered.
